CARNAVAL IN NERJA
Some dates for fun in Nerja, with parades, carnival groups and the traditional burial of the chanquete. It begins on Thursday with the official opening speech and the festival of groups. On Friday there is a costume contest, children's contests and in the afternoon around 9pm is the Momo Carnival Presentation and the Ninfa Carnival election.
The Grand Carnival Parade takes place on Saturday afternoon, ending the day with the awards ceremony in Plaza de España. On Sunday, the festivities end with the multitudinous Entierro del Chanquete (Burial of the Chanquete) in which people dress in mourning, ending with the fireworks display.
