CARNIVAL IN NERJA
Some dates for fun in Nerja, with parades, carnival groups and the traditional burial of the chanquete. It begins on Thursday 28th February, with the official proclamation and the group festival. On Friday 1st, there is a costume competiton, children's competitions and in the afternoon around 9:00 pm is the Momo Carnival Presentation and the Ninfa Carnival election (definetly worth a see).
The Great Carnival Parade takes place on Saturday 2nd, afternoon, ending the day with the awards ceremony at the Plaza de España. On Sunday 3rd, the festivities end with the multitudinous Burial of the Chanquete in which people dress in mourning, ending with a castle of fireworks.
